Cinderella The Exhibition Presented by Swarovski features a stunning display of costumes and props from Disney's live-action Cinderella film. Academy Award winning costume designer Sandy Powell worked with millions of Swarovski crystals to make her magical designs come to life.
The exhibition is broken down into eight zones. The Heritage Gallery, which looks back on the original animated film, features never before seen concept artwork and vintage merchandise from the Disney Vault.
The second area of the exhibition introduces Cinderella's home and the costumes worn by her stepfamily on their arrival. Also displayed are the props of her father's study and family portraits.
From here the fairy-tale is mapped out following the story points that are seen in the animated film, allowing people who haven't yet seen the live-action version some familiarity to the characters and plot. The third section is where the first costume for Cinderella can be found, her rags, which are displayed in the cellar along with her mice friends.
Being immersed further into the story The Garden, which follows on from The Cellar, is a much larger area and no longer feels as though it is inside a room but instead outside on the evening of the ball. Bellow are images of the Fairy Godmother's dress, worn by Helena Bonham Carter, which is embellished with Swarovski crystal stars on the bodice.
The walkway to the next section, The Palace Forecourt, allows visitors to go through the transformation of walking from inside the pumpkin into the golden carriage where there is a photo opportunity which people can optionally purchase at the end of their visit.
The Royal Ball is the main event of the film as well as being the main feature of the exhibition. The iconic blue ballgown Cinderella wears for the occasion is the central focus point. The costumes for the Prince and Cinderella are displayed on a revolving stand as they dance at the ball allowing all angles of the costumes to be seen.
Cinderella's glass slippers are made entirely from Swarovski crystal featuring 221 facets and six digital versions were rendered before the final design was decided upon. One shoe is on display in the Royal Ball and the other is at the end of the exhibition in Behind The Magic.
After exiting the exhibition there is a gift shop featuring Disney merchandise from both the animated and live-action Cinderella films. Items include soft toys, plastic dolls, children's fancy dresses and accessories. The exhibition is on until 10th April 2015 and it is recommended to obtain free tickets, which are available from
ticketmaster, for specific time slots.
